
Known as the Miles C. Bates “Wave House" for its curving roof that mimics the nearby San Jacinto mountains, the mid-century Walter S. White-designed home was opened to the public in February 2020 for the first time since its restoration by Stayner Architects.

Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, The Desert Wave was built in 1955 and meticulously restored by Stayner Architects. A one-bedroom stand-alone house, it has an outdoor chilled/heated cedar soaking tub, king-size bed, and two bathrooms with rain showers.
Features include vintage modernist furniture, luxury Tibor fabrics and Frette Italian linens, personal whiskey and amaro bar, full kitchen, Sonos and vintage Bose sound system, private gardens with a pool and views of the Santa Rosa Mountains, native desert landscaping by Cactus Store and Stayner Architects.
Small Events
The Desert Wave is a full-service event venue. With a private outdoor terrace, plush yard, and open-air interior spaces, it offers event planning, management, and catering for family gatherings and events.
Features include Modernica outdoor event furniture, original 1950s Russel Wright china, wine and champagne service by Tilda Wine of Echo Park, sunset views, and vintage modernist evening lighting.
